Enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna experience
Good to Know
What to bring?
Bathers/active wear and two towels - one for drying, one for sitting. Thongs/beach shoes for sea plunging. Water in a non-breakable bottle - we have fresh filtered drinking water on tap for a re-fill. Best to arrive ready, but there are toilet/shower/changing facilities nearby. Come a little earlier if you wish to take this option.
What not to bring?
Our sauna is a device free zone. We also recommend removing any glasses, watches, or metal jewellery before your session. You're welcome to store your belongings in the office shelving unit.
Do I need a reservation?
It’s best to book online to avoid disappointment, but walk-ins are welcome subject to availability.
Who can use the sauna?
Guests must be 18 years or older to attend independently. Guests under 18 years of age may only use the sauna with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. If you are pregnant or have any medical conditions or health concerns, we recommend consulting your doctor before using the sauna. Please review our Terms & Conditions before booking.
How long should I stay in the sauna?
We recommend taking a plunge in the ocean, or a rinse every 15 - 20 minutes of your 1 hour session. If it’s your first time, maybe take more frequent breaks to begin with. You’ll figure out your own preference through repeated sessions.
What is the temperature of a Hotbox sauna?
Around 90C. The lower bench is cooler though, and regular shower/ocean plunges can reduce the intensity of the session.
Where are we located?
We’re located beside the Safety Bay Yacht Club on the Safety Bay Foreshore in Rockingham, at the corner of Arcadia Drive and Safety Bay Road. Free parking is available, with public toilets and shower facilities nearby.
